ABOUT

ME

Hello there! My name is Shaydan Bayless and I am a twenty year old Graphic Design student minoring in Art at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am the owner of Designs by S, which is an Etsy shop where I sell digital prints (it's in the making)! I figured I would tell you all a few things about me and how I got to where I am! I was born in Lincoln, NE and raised in Beatrice, NE and I absolutely loved growing up in a small town. Honestly, Nebraska is not for everyone, (clearly since that is our slogan) but Nebraska is for me. As for my background with art/design, it started at a young age. As a child I loved to draw, color, and create. As I got older, I further discovered my creative side, taking school projects to the next level, finding any way to make them look pretty! My freshmen year of high school is where my love for drawing immersed. I took art as an elective simply because I needed another elective class as a graduation requirement. From there on I took art every year of high school! Starting college I wasn't sure what career path was for me; I didn't think I could be successful in the arts, so I settled for a more "realistic" path which was Education. School and education have always been something that is important to me, but I felt like I wasn't fulfilling my creative side. Second semester sophomore year I decided to take a big leap and change my major after a year and a half of being an Education major. I learned a lot in my first semester and I've already started taking commissions for Graphic Design work (The Highest Cloud Glass Gallery and Bird's Creamery)! And that's how I got to where I am now!

Another big part of my life- family is really important to me and always has been. I was raised by my mother and I grew up with two brothers. I also have a sister in law, a nephew, and another nephew/niece who is on the way (I am so stoked to be an aunt x2)! My boyfriend, Jared, is another lovely part of life and he inspires/motivates me to unleash my creative side!

When I was four I tragically lost my father to suicide, which has affected my life tremendously and continues to affect me everyday. My dad was an amazing guy with a big heart who enjoyed playing his guitar and drawing. As a way to connect with him and a way to pay tribute to him, I draw. Also, I sometimes dabble in painting and watercolor, and other mediums- it depends if I feel like venturing out! This site will be used as a portfolio for art and designs. With that being said, lets create!
